stone. cold grey. see rock
piles with birds crying.
tree. cool green. rocks gather
close and sign or sing
wind, in leaves, breeze
moves a spirit dance

look. a song climbs as
a fire ant, cleans the leaves
of all disease with ease
descends clears the earth
and there defends
home. the tree
the song protects enlivens feeds
follow cadence and colleague into
the battle against fatigue

building speed. momentum now
cracks the concerete, jacked up
at the corners and attacked
crack. again breaking
that solid path into pieces
smaller pieces of corners torn
off and digested down the gluee
and stone to sand. grit.
we can sit and mourn
and remember before we heard the news
the sky was grey then red then grey
we remember the drum. tanned
by the circle. palms and hands warmed
